Carlsbad, California, USA
Achella Design presents a mobile, multiformat tablet chair, manufactured by OM Seating that changes the way we think about the casual, collaborative work narrative.
Plot Twist has recently been awarded a 2022 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Achella Design’s Plot Twist is available in multiple configurations, materials, and colors – from a skid base offered in two roto-molded colors that are color-matched to the optional tablet’s support column, to a range of tablet colors (white or grey), shapes (circle, or radiused rectangle), and materials (laminated plywood or bamboo).
Functionally, purchasing professionals from education, corporate, and healthcare settings alike can choose between having a backless work seat, or a posture-encouraging low backrest.

They can opt for the mobility of a 6-wheel caster base or the stability of the skid base with or without an attached tablet that is either height adjustable or fixed.

From a self-retracting carry handle made of nautical rope material to the triple-orbiting actions of the swiveling seat, the rotatable-for-ambidexterity tablet post, and the spinning tablet surface itself, there are many thoughtful elements to appreciate.
Best of all is the custom lift column which raises the tablet surface without any meddlesome paddles or actuators.

The attached tablet smoothly lifts and then stably rests at any height ranging from a 28.5” work height to a 39” sharing height (or fluidly anywhere in between).
